Save the Date: Fechner Day 2026 – Umeå, Sweden

October 20–22, 2026

We are pleased to announce that the 42nd Annual Meeting of the International Society for Psychophysics (Fechner Day 2026) will be held in Umeå, Sweden, from October 20–22, 2026. (https://visitumea.se/en, https://www.umu.se/en/).

Fechner Day has long been the central meeting place for researchers interested in psychophysics, sensory and perceptual processes, and quantitative approaches to understanding experience and behavior. The 2026 meeting will continue this tradition, offering an engaging scientific program, stimulating discussions, and opportunities to connect with colleagues from around the world.

We warmly invite suggestions for meeting themes and contributions, including:

  • Proposals for special sessions or symposia
  • Panel discussions or roundtables on emerging topics
  • Ideas for cross-disciplinary or applied sessions
  • Suggestions for keynote speakers or innovative formats

Please send your ideas or expressions of interest gregory.neely@umu.se as soon as possible as a formal call for abstracts and detailed information on registration, travel, and accommodation will follow early in 2026.

As part of Fechner Day 2026, we are also planning a special historical display celebrating the history of the International Society for Psychophysics. If you have memorabilia, photographs, or other materials related to past meetings, please consider contributing to this display. Digital copies or photographs of items can also be sent in advance to help us build the collection.

Finally, a friendly reminder that it’s not too late to pay your 2025 ISP membership dues if you haven’t already done so. Membership fees go almost entirely toward supporting graduate student travel to ISP meetings, helping to ensure that psychophysics continues to thrive as an exciting and vital research field for the next generation. Your support truly makes a difference.

We look forward to welcoming you to Umeå for Fechner Day 2026 and feel free to forward this information to colleagues and contacts who might be interested in joining us!
